1826 Adare Brown Soda treacle Bread
450g Wholemeal flour
155g Plain Flour – sifted
1 heaped teaspoon Bread Soda – sifted
1 heaped teaspoon Salt
2 tablespoons Treacle
1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
450 mls Buttermilk
1 Free Range Egg
Preheat the oven to 200oC.
Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
In a measuring jug measure out all the wet ingredients and whisk together till completely mixed.
Pour the wet into the dry and mix thoroughly.
Grease 2 x 2lb loaf tins and dust with a little plain flour.
Split the mix between both thins.
Wet you hand and flatten the mix evenly in the tin.
Sprinkle the seeds evenly over the mix.
Press down again with your hands.
Place in the preheated oven for 60 mins. Certain ovens may take a little longer.
Allow to cool
Cut when needed and Serve
